Paris Is a Good Idea Mother’s Day Party with SVG files for Cricut

It's almost Mother's Day, do you know how you're going to celebrate with your mom?! If you haven't made plans yet then today's post may be just the answer you've been searching for! I am so pleased to introduce you to my BRAND NEW line of Cricut SVG files! Yep, that's right! I've decided to create an entire line of Cricut Party & Home Decor printables and today you are seeing the first of the collection! (Feel free to toss confetti, I am!!)

Since Mother's Day will be here before we know it, I thought this was a particularly good celebration to begin with. And since my mom adores Paris, and as Audrey Hepburn so aptly stated in Sabrina “Paris is always a good idea,” well, it was an easy topic for me to choose a Parisian inspired fête. And the best part is, if you have a paper cutter that accepts SVG files (like a Cricut) then you can whip these up in no time flat and make it yourself but party like a pro!

This is a photo heavy post, and at the end, you will find a link to the free SVG files. Yep, that's right. For a limited time, these files are absolutely free! Simply signup to join my newsletter and you will have instant access to the SVG files and all my other printables too – sweet, right?!

I was an event planner for almost two decades, so to say that I know a thing or two about how to throw a party would be an understatement. It's practically in my blood. And I couldn't be happier than I am now to have found a tangible way to help you throw the best parties ever and be able to decorate your home with more fun and less stress. And that's just what these designs will do for you – save you time and headaches and look like a hostess with the mostess while you're at it!

Ready? Let's party!

Of course, it's not a party without delicious French pastries! Here I included a delicious selection of croissants, eclairs, Madelines, Macaroons, and adorable Rose Gumdrops – I found all of these in the bakery at my local Super Walmart (the macaroons were in the freezer section). Yep! No slaving over a stove for me, and yet, these look and taste wonderful.

If you have the inclination and the time to make these from scratch more power to you, but often when pulling together a special party like this, the more you can outsource, the better! So take a stroll through your local grocery store or call up your favorite local bakery and place your order.

These jumbo cupcakes were also store-bought but then I gussied them up with this gorgeous cupcake wrapper (Yes! It's included in the files!!) and added an edible rose to the top for the pièce de résistance. Lovely isn't it?! And simple! Just wrap the wrapper around the cupcake and attach it with double stick tape. Easy!!

This is the 3-dimensional invitation that I created – it's very romantic! There are four pieces to it, the floral backing, the white looped card, the Eiffel Tower, and the floral embellishment. All four pieces are included for you to play with!!

I've also given you supplies to make your own menus! And, thanks to the wonderful (and easy to use) Cricut Design Space software, you can customize it to your own food just like I did here! The card comes blank ready for you to personalize.

There are also little tags like this which you can customize as you desire. Here I've turned them into little tags for personal jam pots – which are actually little egg cups which have been recruited to party with us!

The personalization doesn't stop there! You can also turn these tags into place cards!!

A party also needs presents (!!) so I have also created a complimentary plaid wrapping paper which you can download and print on legal sized paper (8.5″ x 14″). The plaid is a lovely foil to the floral!

And, in case you are wondering, yes! the large tag is included! you're welcome 🙂

You can also shrink the tag down and turn it into a tea bag tag as I did here. So simple and so charming!

A bit of fruit mixed with edible blooms makes a feast for the eyes and the mouth and is so simple to create!

Pro tip: Melt a bit of vanilla bean ice cream and pour it over the fruit right before serving (remove flowers and replace them after pouring on “the cream”). You'll totally thank me for the explosion of flavor!! A sprig of mint makes a beautiful and needed bit of green to this dish.

Be careful when using blooms with food, make sure they are edible and pesticide free.

And Voila! a beautiful and easy to create party, ideal for Mother's Day, a special birthday, a bridal shower, or any time you want to add a bit of Parisian flair to your celebration!

HOW TO ASSEMBLE the
Paris Is Always A Good Idea party papers

There are some special details and notes I want to share with you if you do decide to download and make your own party with these papers (and I hope you will!). If you do, please upload your photos and tag me @JenCarrollVA or #CelebratingEverydayLife. I can't wait to see how you use these!!

When you click the button at the bottom of this post you will be asked to sign up to join my newsletter. (It's free and fun!) You will receive instant access to my Library of Printables and SVG files. I will be adding more SVG files regularly so keep checking back – remember this is the first of the line. (If you are already a subscriber simply go to my library page here and login with your password – you can find this at the bottom of my newsletter emails each week.)

The file for this party is a ZIP file. Within the ZIP file you will find multiple files.

Here are some notes to help you understand how to use and assemble them:

1) Cupcake Wrapper folder – 1 file inside:

• This is a PNG file and is meant to be uploaded to the Design Space and then use the PRINT + CUT command. Size it to the size you desire (I made mine 9.25” wide), press “Make It” and tell the software how many wrappers you need. IMPORTANT: Once you hit “Print” DESELECT the “BLEED” setting. If you skip this, it will not  print correctly, so please don’t skip this step! I recommend you print this on white CARDSTOCK.

2) Gift Wrap folder – 2 files inside:

• An 8.5” x 14” (US Legal size) PDF file with a Gift Wrap design to compliment the party. I recommend printing this on white, TEXT weight paper.

• “Paris Is A Good Idea” Gift Tags – This is a PNG file and is meant to be uploaded to the Design Space and then use the PRINT + CUT command. Size it to the size you desire (I made mine 4” tall), press “Make It” and tell the software how many tags you need. IMPORTANT: Once you hit “Print” DESELECT the “BLEED” setting. If you skip this, it will not  print correctly, so please don’t skip this step! I recommend you print this on white CARDSTOCK.  (I also used this for the Tea Bag Tags, sized to 2.75” tall)

3) Invitation folder – 4 files inside:

• An 8.5” x 11” PDF file of the floral folding card background for the invitation. You will need to print this on white CARDSTOCK and then use a rotary cutter (or scissors) to cut out the page. SCORE it down the middle and fold it in half to create a folded 5” x 7” card.

• Flowers Embellishment is a Print + Cut PNG file. I sized mine to 3.25” tall when I made mine. I recommend using 3-D foam adhesive dots to attach it to the “Paris-Is-A-Good-Idea-Invitation-Loop-Card-SVG-JenniferCarroll” card. IMPORTANT: Once you hit “Print” DESELECT the “BLEED” setting. If you skip this, it will not  print correctly, so please don’t skip this step! I recommend you print this on white CARDSTOCK.

• Glitter Eiffel Tower is a Print + Cut PNG file. I sized mine to 6” tall when I made mine. I recommend using 3-D foam adhesive dots to attach it to the “Paris-Is-A-Good-Idea-Invitation-Loop-Card-SVG-JenniferCarroll” card under the floral embellishment. IMPORTANT: Once you hit “Print” DESELECT the “BLEED” setting. If you skip this, it will not  print correctly, so please don’t skip this step! I recommend you print this on white CARDSTOCK.

• The Invitation Loop Card is an SVG file that includes the Cut + Write functions in Design Space. For the “Write” portion, I used the Cricut “0.4 Tip, Pink Crystal” pen. I recommend you print this on white CARDSTOCK. I recommend using 3-D foam adhesive dots to attach it to the Floral Background card.

4) Menu folder – 2 files

• An 8.5” x 11” PDF file of the Floral Background for the menus. You will need to print this on white CARDSTOCK and then use a rotary cutter (or scissors) to cut out the page.

• The White Loop Border Card is an SVG file that includes the Cut functions in Design Space. To print your menu on the card I recommend you use the TEXT field to write in your menu. Be sure to select “PRINT” for that portion. Once you have written your entire menu and are ready to make it, remember to first SELECT ALL and then FLATTEN the image BEFORE pressing the “Make It” button. If you skip this step, it will try to “cut-out” your letters. I recommend you print this on white CARDSTOCK.

5) Place Cards + Food Tags – 1 file

• For Place Cards: This is a Print + Cut PNG file. I sized mine to 4” tall when I made Place Cards. To print guest names on the card I recommend you use the TEXT field in Design Space to write in your guest’s names. Be sure to select “PRINT” for those names. Once you have written each one, remember to select the individual card + guest name and select “ATTACH.” Do this separately to EACH card you will print. Once you are ready to make it, remember to first SELECT ALL and then FLATTEN the image BEFORE pressing the “Make It” button. If you skip this step, it will try to “cut-out” your letters. IMPORTANT: Once you hit “Print” DESELECT the “BLEED” setting. If you skip this, it will not  print correctly, so please don’t skip this step! I recommend you print this on white CARDSTOCK.

• For Food Signs like the “JAM” sign shown, I sized mine to 2.75” tall. This is a Print + Cut PNG file. To print your food names on the card I recommend you use the TEXT field in Design Space to write in your item. Be sure to select “PRINT” for those items. Once you have written each one, remember to select the individual card + food item name and select “ATTACH.” Do this separately to EACH card you will print.

• For Tea Tags, please note this is actually the same file as the “Gift Tag” (so please go to the GIFT WRAP folder to find this file) you will print it the same way except I recommend you size it to 2.75” tall for the tea bag tags. This is a PNG file and is meant to be uploaded to the Design Space and then use the PRINT + CUT command.
