How to Make an Easy Purple Fall Floral Arrangement

How to Make an Easy Purple Fall Floral Arrangement, Easy Fall Decorating Ideas! It has finally turned cool and I am loving the crispness that is in the air, how about you? Is it cooling down where you are? Today I am sharing How to Make an Easy Purple Fall Floral Arrangement. I am trying to enjoy every single last flower bloom I can before they all fade into winter's rest.

One problem I often have when dreaming up arrangements like these for around my home is: containers. Containers really can be a critical element in making a lovely centerpiece. For this arrangement, I wanted a “fresh” from the garden type of feeling.

But I wanted the blooms to last for as long as possible, meaning I needed to keep the mums in soil.

I had my eye on this basket but was stumped at first… how could I load it up with soil and not make a mess everywhere? And then inspiration struck!

How to Make an Easy Purple Fall Floral Arrangement, Easy Fall Decorating Ideas!A trash bag! I lined the basket with a trash bag and voila! the basket transforms into an ideal container to hold the soil for these plants. An easy solution that we all have in our kitchen cabinets!

Want to make your own? Here are the supplies you will need:
  • Basket (or other container)
  • Trash bags (for lining basket, if necessary)
  • Soil
  • Fertilizer
  • Purple Mums
  • Lambs Ear
  • Ivy
  • Purple Petunias
  • Hydrangeas
  • White Pumpkins
  • Baby Boos

Remember to sprinkle in a little bit of fertilizer OR use a water-based fertilizer once per week when watering.
The only downside to this type of “planter” is that you have to be very careful with your watering since there is no drainage. Don't overwater and drown your plants. (I speak from past experience here!)
How to Make an Easy Purple Fall Floral Arrangement, Easy Fall Decorating Ideas!I love white pumpkins and wanted to create an arrangement that would accentuate their creamy loveliness. So I went with the “softer side of Fall” and used cream, varied shades of purple and a bit of dusty miller to create a serene scene.

I am particularly pleased with this type of arrangement because many of these plants can be transplanted later and continue to be enjoyed!

How to Make an Easy Purple Fall Floral Arrangement, Easy Fall Decorating Ideas!I have a pair of these mum's and am thinking of potting them to flank my mud room door… we'll see if I work up the energy for that. I've been making great progress in my kitchen and look forward to sharing a sneak peek of the progress wit you soon!

How to Make an Easy Purple Fall Floral Arrangement, Easy Fall Decorating Ideas! There are a few blooms tucked in that are cut and they include these lovely hydrangea blossoms. They come from a huge bush in my yard that I am definitely not uprooting, it's almost as big as I am!

I love the tinge of purple they get as they age.

I recommend using floral picks, floral oasis, or even just little baggies filled with water and attached to each branch with a rubber band to keep them hydrated. Hydrangeas will droop quickly so they really must have water to drink!

I think an arrangement like this is grand for a table (think Fall entertaining!) but it is equally charming for a coffee table or buffet!
