{Let’s Make A} Fairytale Princess Party Tu-Tu Chair Skirt!

How to Make a Fairy Princess Tu-tu chair skirt

Do you have a little girl who dreams of being a pretty Princess in your life? If so, this party is for her! Filled with lots and lots of pink and some super sparkly details, it's perfect for your very own Royal Highness. To make this party easier I incorporated practical details like plastic tablecloths and paper plates with frilly and sparkly accents like rhinestone napkin rings, fairy wings, and luscious baked goods and flowers. Today I'm sharing how I made the tu-tu chair skirt so you can make your own!

Gazebo at Clifton InnBefore we jump into the how-to I wanted to give a quick mention about balloons. I believe that balloons can make great impact and here I used clusters of them to mark the entrance but also to create a nice “fill” in some otherwise empty corners. I also used 3 shades of pink to add depth and dimension to the clusters.

Here’s an easy no-sew way to make your own tu-tu chair skirt:

Note: You will need adult size tu-tu's for this project. Cut a straight line in the tutu (from waist to hem) to make a flat piece. Pin a safety pin to the elastic waist on one end and tie a piece of ribbon to this. Then tie the ribbon to your chair back near the seat. Repeat on the other side. voila!

I found a sparkly sheer organza fabric at my local JoAnn Fabric store and I knew I wanted to incorporate into this party somehow…. I ended up cutting the fabric into strips and draping it over the chair back. This helped soften the chair back and hide the ribbon ties for the tutu skirts!

To complete the look I attached butterfly wings to the chair back overtop of the fabric. To do this, simply hook elastic bands over chair back and tie together with ribbon to keep them snugly tight.

A special THANK YOU to Jen Fariello for these gorgeous photos, Pat Roberts, Sherry Spencer for their beautiful flowers and the folks at Clifton Inn for allowing us to shoot in their Gazebo.

I'll be back next week with more fun details about this party!

Happy Celebrating!
