Did you enjoy viewing all the wonderful homes in yesterdays All Through The House Christmas Blog Hop? There were so many inspiring ideas! In my post, mentioned that I made the plaid pillows you see on the chairs. Here are the supplies you need:
How to Make a Pillow Case from a Scarf in 3 easy steps
To begin, I selected a pillow form that matched the width of the scarf I used. If your scarf is wider, you will need to trim it. If it is narrower, find a way to expand it, you could try sewing two together or attach a wide ribbon to each side to make it wider. Need some scarf inspiration? Then I wrapped it around the pillow and trimmed the scarf so that it overlapped lengthwise. Leave a generous amount of fabric when you wrap it so that if the pillow gaps at all you won’t see the form inside. I really like the fringe edge so I made sure to keep one end of that.
Next I picked some accent ribbons. This is a completely optional step but I really think it makes this pillow extra special. I ended up layering two complimentary ribbons and then pinned them to the scarf (be sure to pin it to only one layer of the scarf.
Turn the fabric wrong-side out. Sew (or glue) the ribbon to the scarf first. Then sew both of the long edges of the scarf to seal the sides. Leave the short fringe end open – this is the envelope part where you will stuff the pillow. Turn the fabric right side out and enjoy.
I made a couple of these and added a couple of vintage pins to them for a little extra bling! Here is a link to a similar Three Horse Pin on Amazon (affiliate link).
