SOLE recipe
Hydration is an important thing as we age. Not drinking enough water can put our health in jeopardy. Starting the day with a 16-ounce glass of filtered water with a teaspoon of Sole in it is a great way to wake up your body and start the gears moving. Sole is an electrolyte-dense brine that is taken as a supplement every morning.
An electrolyte is a compound that ionizes when dissolved in liquid, meaning it becomes a charged molecule. Different types of electrolytes include sodium, potassium, chloride, bicarbonate, calcium sulfate, magnesium, and phosphate.
Honestly, sometimes I have awakened in the morning feeling very tired and spacey and after a glass of sole water, I feel much better and energetic. It is really amazing!
Sole
Ingredients
- Quart Mason jar
- Plastic top
- Sea Salt
- Filtered Water
Instructions
- First, you pour seal salt into jar about ¼ of the way up.
- Then add filtered water to where the jar goes in to form the neck. Put on plastic top.
- Shake vigorously, it will be cloudy and set aside overnight.
- In the morning the water on top is clear and there is a thin layer of salt on the bottom of the jar.The clear liquid is the sole. Add to your morning 16 oz of filtered water and drink.Voila! A nourishing morning drink to start your day!

When setting a beautiful table like this one I always try to pair it with a simple menu.
HONEY GINGER DRESSING/MARINADE
In this episode, I share the recipe for my Honey-Ginger Dressing/Marinade.
It's a delicious addition to elevate your meal that comes together in minutes. It's easy enough for everyday meals but special enough for weekend entertaining too!
You can make this without a blender/food processor but it literally comes together in minutes if you use one, so I recommend it for making meal prep faster and simpler.
Bon Appetit!

Honey Ginger Dressing/Marinade
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp fresh ginger, peeled (or 1 two-inch piece)
- 1 tsp garlic, minced (or 1 clove)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 1 Tbsp Lemon juice
- 1 1/4 cups extra virgin olive oil
- pinch salt & pepper
Instructions
- Emulsify ginger + garlic in a food processor.
- Add in honey, vinegar, mustard, lemon zest & juice, salt & pepper to combine with ginger & garlic
- While the blender is running, slowly add in the olive oil.
- Once well combined, pour this into a mason jar with a tight lid and store in the fridge for up to one month (if you don't eat it first!)

DIY BEE SKEP
I (Jennifer) am mad for all things “Bee!” – in case you couldn't tell in this episode!
I collect Bee skeps and for this table I wanted a petite skep to place at each place setting so I decided to make some. I hope you enjoy the tutorial on the show.
These really are simple to whip up and you'll have an entire hive of them in no time!
SUPPLIES
Balloon
Jute/Twine
Low temp glue gun + glue sticks
Optional: small pot to set balloon in while you're getting started
[dropcaps]1[/dropcaps] STEP ONE
Blow up a balloon with plain air (no hydrogen). I use a hand balloon pump when blowing up the balloon to save my lungs! The bigger your balloon, the bigger your skep. For little ones like this, you don't need to pump that much air into it. This also allows your balloon to keep the shape that you want for your skep.
[dropcaps]2[/dropcaps] STEP TWO
Tie a knot in your jute/twine. This will be the loop at the top of your skep.
[dropcaps]3[/dropcaps] STEP THREE
Add some glue to the base of your knot and stick it on the balloon. Begin wrapping the jute in a circle around the knot and continue adding glue in several spots to keep your jute layers tightly connected. Note: the balloon will stay stuck to your jute.
[dropcaps]4[/dropcaps] STEP FOUR
Once you have the size/length you desire, trim your jute and glue it into place on the inside of the skep.
Pop the balloon. You can try to peel the pieces out or just leave them to help add some support to the skep.
Enjoy!

Jennifer and Lucinda, I enjoyed everything you covered in your first episode. I’m drinking 2 liters of filtered water daily but now I will be making Sole, thanks to Lucinda’s segment. I will be making the bee skeps for favors for my next ladies tea. And, I could go on and on and breakdown everything I loved but just know it was all GREAT. And, thanks for the links to where we can purchase things you featured. Oh, and I ordered your book, Jennifer, before I even finisted watching. And, of course I shared on Facebook, so feel free to pull my name out of the hat for that great giveaway. Best to you both! What a team!
WOW Lollie, YOU ARE AMAZING!!! A trillion thank you’s for such powerful words of encouragement! I know you would really laugh if you could see how hard we are working to make this all happen! Painting walls, floors, ceilings in the set Jen uses for her cooking/crafting, using picture hanging wire to suspend a microphone from the ceiling for better sound. You see, it is just the two of us sorting our way, with the Lord’s help, through this adventure, loving every minute of it. God bless you for watching!
What a fun episode. I am really looking forward to the next one!

Loved watching this first episode! Jennifer your mother is so beautiful, now we know where you get your looks! 🙂 I am so looking forward to watching more Celebrating Everyday Life!
Oh Elizabeth, thank you for watching! How kind of you to say I am beautiful! We all have insecurities and one of my biggest worries in doing this show with Jennifer was my saggy profile and how I would look! But I have to say, a wonderful thing happened. I saw myself and my turkey neck and it didn’t matter!!! I just wanted to connect and be real and encourage others to step out and LIVE!!! And then on top of that to have you say I look beautiful, well just goes to show, we cannot let any fears prevent us from doing what we are called to do!!!!!! Never too old, or too ugly, or too fat!!!! Blessings to you dearheart!!
Congratulations on your premiere episode Jennifer & Lucinda! Very informative and fun – you two make a great team. Looking forward to many more.
Lauri, we are out there for real!! How exciting!! Hope you will continue to enjoy the adventure with us!!
Thank you again for your encouragement!
Love the simplicity of making the bee skep…and the recipe is a must try too.
Hey Kari, the skep really is simple yet beautiful. That dressing is really tasty and I had never seen the ginger trick that Jennifer showed myself!! So that was something I got to learn too!! Keep watching more to come.
Wow I love how the table arrangement turned out. Very creative and full of life! I might just steal the idea for a summer dinner!
Thank you Delia, Jennifer really does a lovely tablescape! One time she set a Ralph Lauren look alike table by the pool in my back yard and the folks from Ralph Lauren Facebook posted it on their page! I think you can see many more of her tabletops on her blog. Thank you for watching!
This is truly exciting and way to go! Thanks for sharing on To Grandma’s House We Go!
So happy you liked it! We are going on and loving every minute of it! Please keep watching!
