Hello Sweet Friends! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! The great Christmas clean-up of 2016 is underway at our house and today I’m sharing my favorite Easy & Cheap Ornament Storage. My daughter declared this the “best Christmas ever”!! I thought this was a special Christmas too, but this year, I am feeling particularly excited about the coming New Year. At times in the past I’ve been known to leave my tree(s) up until mid-January but this year, I can’t wait to start setting goals, but before I jump into that, I must begin un-decking our halls.
I’ve seen those fancy ornament storage tubs at the store, but my favorite Easy & Cheap Ornament Storage comes from these three simple supplies: storage tub, tissue paper, and cardboard. Yep, that’s it! With these items, I am able to layer my ornaments into a tub where everything is neat & tidy, and ready for next year! I simply take the ornaments off the tree, place them in the tub one layer at a time, and make sure to separate the layers with sheets of tissue paper. Finally, I place the most fragile ornaments on the top.
Christmas lights used to be my nemesis, they would always tangle and create a giant mess. Finally I have learned an easy trick to keep them corralled, a piece of cardboard is the simple key to this! I cut a slit in the cardboard and hook an end of the cord into it, then I simply wrap the lights around it, and tuck the end. It’s very easy and helps the lights be ready to roll next time I need them.
There you have it, three easy items you probably already have lying around the house are all you need to safely and easily store your favorite ornaments. It really is a no-fuss and extremely affordable way to keep these treasures protected year after year. Plus, this method of storing them with their theme make it easy to decorate the next year. You pull out the tub and your decorations are all sitting, neatly organized, ready to be hung again!
Do you have a favorite way to store your ornaments? This is the most budget friendly way that I’ve discovered, but I’d love to hear your ideas, please leave a comment below!
