It's hard to believe that it is almost the end of August already! The time is flying. I started working at one of my parent's salons two weeks ago (I'm helping out at the front desk as well as managing their marketing) and have been trying to adjust to my new schedule. It's been a little overwhelming but hopefully I'm beginning to find my “groove,” which excites me because I've missed y'all over here! I can tell you that I am definitely appreciating my time at home now more than ever. And this past Sunday was no exception.
We have been having beautiful weather lately and my garden has been blooming, blooming, blooming! I wanted to capture and savor some of the luscious colors that are bursting forth so I snipped a few flowers for this summer floral arrangement.
I wanted this bouquet to feel especially summery so I placed them in an antique fiesta ware pitcher that I have in a vivid shade of orange. Then I filled it with an assortment of flowers including marigolds which tie in nicely with the orange container and six varieties of roses.
Finally, a couple sprigs of mint add a nice touch of green. The arrangement has a natural, unstructured quality to it that I love. It feels casual and romantic, perfect for a summer evening.
This arrangement would be lovely as a centerpiece but is also a charming for a tray table or any spot where you want to bring in a little sunshine. And of course, a refreshing glass of lemonade is the perfect drink to sit and sip while relaxing during these last few days of summer.
Even store bought lemonade feels extra special when you tuck in a sprig of mint and a slice of lemon. I always enjoy little shortcuts like that that don't cause extra work but leave me feeling pampered.
I have decided that blue and white goes with everything. I found this little canister on ebay last year and I find myself constantly moving it around my house. It works everywhere and I just can't make up my mind about a “favorite spot.” Do you ever move things around because you just love it everywhere?
I hope this simple arrangement inspires you to mix up your colors and blooms and create a haphazard bouquet too! And, that you will carve out a little more time to literally stop and smell the roses before this summer is wrapped up. I'll be sharing another post a little later this week with another fun idea to enjoy your blooms so please stay tuned for that. 'til then…
