I am eternally on a quest for easy and delicious recipes and my latest fascination is one bowl meals. Do you make these? They combine the best parts of a salad with savory proteins and allow room for creativity and/or just using up the random leftovers I may have floating around my fridge. The flavors can be as simple or complex as you dare to dream up. You can add broths or keep them more hearty, it’s totally up to you. Best of all they can be pulled together in mere minutes thanks to handy dinner helpers like Wish-Bone Dressing and Tyson’s Grilled and Ready Chicken Breast Strips! Delicious dinner in about 15 minutes or less – yes, please!
My daughter and I headed off to our local Kroger where I discovered we are not the only ones who love this grilled chicken! Found in the freezer section, they were selling fast!
We also made sure to grab a bottle of Wish-Bone Italian dressing – this dressing is so versatile, I almost hate to label it as Italian because it works for so many varieties of cooking, and is great for so much more than just salads.
Three to Five minutes are all it takes to heat these up in a skillet.
Seriously, just a few minutes and voila! yummy chicken ready for dinner! While the chicken was heating up I chopped up some veggies I had on hand, warmed up some rice I had already cooked in the microwave, and presto-changeo, dinner was ready to be assembled!
I love the flavors of Thai food and we had some veggies that lend themselves to Thai cuisine on hand so that’s the theme we went with for this one-bowl-wonder. Here’s how I made mine:
- Tyson Grilled & Ready Chicken Breast Strips
- Wish-Bone Italian Dressing
- Black/Purple Rice
- Purple Cabbage
- Shredded Carrots
- Green Onions, chopped
- Bean Sprouts
- Edamame (shelled)
- Peanuts, Chopped
- Place the frozen chicken strips into a non-stick skillet. Heat on one side for about 2 minutes, flip and repeat on the other side. When done, set aside.
- Meanwhile, heat up rice.
- Slice cabbage into thin strips, chop onions.
- I like Edamame beans raw so I just rinse the frozen ones in some water and add them right into the bowl.
- Assemble all ingredients in your bowl and pour Wish-Bone Italian dressing over the top.
- You could add a pinch of ginger as a garnish for a little extra zing!
I grabbed a bouquet of White Aster flowers at the store and couldn’t resist garnishing this beautiful meal with a few edible buds – doesn’t it look just like Spring in a bowl?! This definitely brightens up these last dreary days of winter. This looks so fancy it could easily be served at a dinner party but thanks to the Tyson Grilled & Ready Chicken and the Wish-Bone dressing it makes weekday meals feel special.
Perfect for lunch or dinner, I have to say I am smitten with the Buddha bowl trend and have really enjoyed concocting a broad range of my favorite world flavors. Want to mix things up even more? Grab some TortillaLand tortillas and spoon your “bowl” into it. Now you’re ready for picnics, tailgating, or lunch on the run!
I hope you will give this simple and savory recipe a try!
