What a great week this has been with all the Easter inspiration we enjoyed! I don’t often organize big tours like that so it made this week extra busy for me which upped the stress factor a few notches over here. Plus, I’ve been working on a big project which I’m really excited to finally announce to you – read on for details. With so much going on this week I was reminded again about the importance of simple ways to quickly reduce stress. I thought you might like to join me in this conversation because I’m guessing stress is part of your life too. 🙂
“How are things going?” asks a friend. “Great, but so busy…” I respond. Do you find yourself having similar conversations? I’m not the only one, am I? I realize that “busy” has become my routine answer to “How are you,” and I must admit I’m growing concerned because I don’t think it’s meant to be that way.
Yes, we all have a lot going on, no question, but there is a deep desire in my heart to journey towards simplicity and to peel away the layers of stress that this “busy” lifestyle is trying to heap upon me. So I’m trying to become more purposeful about the words I’m using. Which leads me to my first tip.
Think before you speak. When we’re busy, tired, running-a-mile-a-minute, we can get a little bit lazy with our words, at least I know I can. And sometimes that opens the door for me to say whatever is rolling around in my head. But, I actually believe that our words are containers for power and that I can use them for good or not so good.
The words I say can have a direct impact on how I feel. So I want to encourage us to try to use words that inspire and encourage rather than drag down and discourage. I’m not saying lie about what you’re going through but find a positive aspect and focus on that. It will have a tremendous influence on your mood.
Another way to reduce the stress in your life is to find simple activities that feed your soul. Things that are soothing, calming, and fun. Which brings me to my BIG announcement! Subscribers to my newsletter got a sneak-peek and were the first to know. Do you want to be the first to know about exciting behind-the-scenes details around here too?
