Front Porch Party at Wonder workshop

Porch Party, Dinner on the Porch, Dinner Outside, Dinner Al Fresco, burlap tablecloth, wine bottle centerpiece, candles in bottles, vintage dinner plates, mix and match platesOn the first night of the Wonder photography workshop we all gathered at Jen Fariello’s lovely country home ‘Falling Meadow’s Farm’ for a brief photo session and a delightful Front Porch Dinner Party! While most of the photographers were having their first lesson about photographing a couple I snuck away to take some photos of the dinner set-up. {Bad girl! I know. But you see I don’t really photograph people where as food and dinner tables call to me like a siren’s song – I couldn’t resist!}

I was just in time to snap this photo of my friends Meghan Streit of Shindig Events & Kelly Trout of One Creative Cookie stringing party lights for our dinner! I’m such a behind-the-scenes gal I loved capturing this fun little moment!

I also caught Paden Reich of Southern Living Weddings pitching in with a few finishing touches. It was wonderful to get to know Paden at the workshop.  She offered invaluable insight into what a magazine such as hers is looking for when deciding what to include in their coveted pages. Her counsel and advice alone was totally worth the price of admission!! Huge thank you to Jen Fariello, Robert Radifera & Katie Stoops for including a speaker of Paden’s caliber at the event!

Loved the simplicity of the table and its centerpiece.  The mixed vintage bottles filled with candles and assorted wildflowers were provided by my favorite floral designers, Pat & Sherry of Southern Blooms by Pat’s Floral Designs.  Makes me want to start collecting old bottles now too – seriously I need to get a storage barn if this keeps up!

I’m a sucker for mixed placesettings – I think I actually prefer them to matching ones! These are part of Meghan’s rather large collection – good news for all you local couples wanting to rent mis-matched plates, call Meghan!

This antique cherub plate was my favorite one! They are so adorable sitting their enjoying their porridge straight from the pan – too cute!!

Garden Tool planter, Farm Art

Immediately adjacent to the table was what I would dub “Farm Art” – this tiller (at least I think that’s what it is!) turned planter is so cool! Perfect on this country porch!

One Creative Cookie, cookie platter, footed platter of cookies, blue & brown cookies

For dinner we had some delicious jerk chicken made by Robert - I totally want the recipe! – but for dessert we had these super yummy cookies by Kelly. Her cookies are as good as they look and because she ships nationwide you can enjoy them too!

Thank you so much Jen & Chris for opening your home to us and allowing us to have such a fun & festive evening! It really was “wonder”ful!

I hope you enjoyed this front porch party and it inspires you with a few ideas for casual but stylish entertaining on your porch or backyard! Do you have a favorite element? Tell me about it in the comments below, please. I’d love to hear from you!

Happy Celebrating!

    Wow – all of this looks so wonderful. I have a very narrow (ie shallow) porch but this looks so wonderful I would love to make it work. It looks like it was a magical, and tasty evening.

      Hi Tracey! It’s amazing what a narrow table and a bench can do on a porch! Hopefully you can find the right table so you can have your own porch party :-)
