There is nothing quite as glitzy and fabulous as the Academy Awards, is there? With the gorgeous gowns and all-around Red Carpet glamour it’s hard not to get swept up into all the fun. Here’s my recipe for hosting an Oscar Party at home for two or two-hundred. First, mix up a delicious cocktail, next prepare a few simple but over-the-top snacks, third, print out your own Oscar Ballot like this one, and finally settle in and enjoy the spectacle! So, here are my recipes for delicious Oscar Party Food & Drinks!
Let’s begin with the cocktail. The golden Oscar statuette is easily one of the most recognized trophies in the world, so I felt inspired to prepare a similarly golden hued cocktail to toast the evening. I present to you – Oscar’s Clementine Cocktail! Best of all – it’s a breeze to whip up.
Here’s my recipe:
Mix together and enjoy! For tips on making an orange spiral garnish check out the bottom of this post!
What’s a party without a deliciously decadent dessert or two? With all the tuxedos popping up on the screen, I thought a black & white cookie would be a nice addition to our menu. But, we want something that’s not only delicious but also easy! Well, it doesn’t get much easier than this. Take a basic chocolate wafer (look for them either in the cookie aisle or near the ice cream cones – why they are often with the ice cream cones is a mystery to me!) and dip it into some melted white choclate (which takes all of one minute to melt in the microwave – easy-peasy!). I sprinkled a bit of golden icing sugar onto mine for a bit of Hollywood sparkle. I repeated this process with vanilla wafer cookies as well.
I’m actually more of a savory snacker than a sweet’s gal myself and I love popcorn – plus, come on, it’s an award show for movies, how can we not have popcorn?? Give your everyday popcorn a makeover with a generous sprinkle of Parmesan cheese and toss in a few golden goldfish for color and you will be snacking happily all evening long!
I almost forgot, want to make a perfect orange spiral garnish? They say it takes lots of practice… I say, hand me a vegetable peeler, a chopstick and my microwave and I’ll whip it up in no time!
Step One: Gently shave a curl of the orange with the veggie peeler. If it’s like mine, it’s flat – definitely no curl…
Step Two: pop it into the microwave for 20 seconds max. You just want to warm it up.
Step Three: wrap it tightly around a chopstick and hold it for a minute or so.
Step Four: while still wrapped around the chopstick, dunk it into a cup of ice cold water to help it keep that shape. Allow it to sit for a moment or two.
Voila! Perfect spiral orange garnish! No bartender degree required!
Do you have any favorites you’re hoping will win or any predictions? I haven’t seen many movies lately so I’m feeling a little out of the loop on some of them but it’s still fun to fill out the ballots and wait and see how close I come to choosing the winners!
I hope you feel a bit inspired to celebrate the Oscars with my Oscar Party Food recipes and ideas this Sunday evening!
