Musing on the Print Edition of Celebrating Everyday Life magazine

Celebrating Everyday Life with Jennifer Carroll Print Edition

Yesterday I received the print proof of the magazine in the mail from the printer and for a moment I just held my breath. To actually hold the magazine in my hands and feel the weight of it was so very special. Please understand, I love the digital version – the ease of having it with me wherever I go, being able to click on images and go directly to websites to buy the products featured, to be able to “clip” images and share them with friends across every social media platform… these are all awesome perks of the app! But, I grew up with honest to goodness, tear out the pages and post them on my walls, magazines. And to hold my very own magazine in my hands, one that came from a vision in my head and through collaboration and support of a wonderful team of women has become an actual printed product is so special to me. All of the questions like “will it be a success”, “will people like it” and more vanished for a moment and it was just me, my daughter and my magazine having one big group hug!

To be able to flip through the pages and touch and feel the stories that I have been laboring over for the past several weeks was truly gratifying.

At night while I would be working on layouts I had the entire collection of Remington Steele (all five seasons) playing in the background on my tv. (I bought the DVD’s as a Christmas present to myself!)  I doubt I will ever look at this issue without hearing that theme music play in my head :-)

I’m also really, really proud of the print quality. It feels like so much more than just a magazine – here you can see that it is twice as thick as this magazine I bought recently – the paper is so heavy and luxurious that it really feels more like a soft bound book to me. A fact which helps me feel a little better about the price-tag on it. A quick sidebar note about the price: that price is set by the printer – I make about $2 for each print copy sold… just in case you were wondering if I had lost my mind when you saw the price for it!

Celebrating Everyday Life with Jennifer Carroll Print EditionI haven’t seen any of the subscription numbers yet – I hope to begin getting insight into our sales tomorrow to see how we’re doing – but for today, I am trying to “celebrate” what has been accomplished and savor this moment as much as I can.

Before I go, I wanted to be sure you knew that the magazine is now available for PC’s too! Click here to learn more.

Would you like to help spread the word about the magazine? You can!! Just share a link to the magazine page (http://celebratingeverydaylife.com/magazine) on your own blog, Facebook page and/or pin the image above on one of your Pinterest boards. I’m not a huge publishing firm so having folks like you tell your friends will make all the difference in making this launch a real success!!

I truly mean it when I say THANK YOU for being a part of this amazing journey with me. I’m not quite sure where we’ll end up but I’m thrilled that we are ON OUR WAY!!

Happy Celebrating!

I understand the love for a real magazine. I am a book and magazine person too! I use my iPAD for SOME reading when I travel, but give me a book or mag any day! It is gorgeous and I hope for great success!

Congratulations, Jennifer! I can only imagine that moment when you held your printed labor of love in your hand! I probably would have cried. I’m sure it’s beautiful and I can’t wait to flip through the printed version. I love that it’s such a thick magazine. Usually first issues are limited. I’m with you on paper pages too! I need to be able to flag, jot, and dog ear. 😉 You are one of the most talented bloggers, stylists, entertainers, and now PUBLISHER that I’ve ever come across and I’m so happy for you. Love, Jami

Gorgeous magazine…I am from the “hold in my hands” generation of magazines and did look at purchasing the printed version but opted for the digital version which I downloaded and view this morning on my computer. Every article is just wonderful. It is exciting for me to see my blogging buddies involved and featured in the magazine too.

I’m so glad to have a hard copy–I grew up in the years when Seventeen magazine made its debut, and I POURED over the page. I do believe I will be doing the same with this gorgeous magazine. I hope that magazines we can hold will never be a thing of the past! Thank you for making a print version. Can’t wait to get mine! And CONGRATULATIONS! What an endeavor, and though I don’t know you, I’d like to tell you how proud I am of you!
