I am really excited to be partnering with my friend Diane from An Extraordinary Day and MaryBeth from Cupcakes & Crinoline to bring you a new monthly feature where we are taking our recyclables and “Making Something from Nothing”. Best of all, we are inviting YOU to be part of the fun with a link party! Every month will have a theme and to kick things off this month we are having a Kitchen Organization challenge. I’m deep in the midst of a kitchen renovation over here so I’m really excited to see everyone’s ideas so that I can incorporate them into my kitchen when it’s ready! For my part I decided to organize leftover jars into a coffee + cocoa station for my daughter and I. When there is chaos all around you like the muddle we are in here with everything topsy-turvy little breaks for coffee or cocoa can go a long way to help soothe the renovation weary soul.
To begin I gathered a collection of glass jars leftover from jams, sauces, olives, and more. First, I wanted to clean them up, left over sticky goo from labels and “best by” dates printed on the jars are not what we want to see here. I like to use CitraSolv (Amazon affiliate link) to remove these little messes. One swipe, and poof! The ink, goo, and anything else are gone! Be sure to wash your jars with soap after using this.
Now my clean jars are ready to fill! Pick your favorite powdered mixes – hot cocoa for my daughter and french vanilla cappuccino for me! A wide mouth funnel (Amazon affiliate link) make filling a breeze!
Add your favorite toppings and you’re set! Those leftover jars have a happy and useful “after life” and I have a pretty spot to run to when I get overwhelmed with the endless renovation to-do’s!
Let’s check out Diane’s Easy Kitchen Cabinet Ideas,
This month our focus is on Kitchen Organization.
Next month our theme will be Valentine’s Gifts.
It will be an exciting adventure, thinking outside the box, to organize and decorate our homes with what’s leftover and maybe even considered trash. Who knows what we’ll create. Whatever it is… we’re going to have fun sharing how you, too, can Make Something From Nothing.
I hope you’ll plan to join us each month.
AND… we’re doing something a little bit different.
We’re inviting YOU to take the challenge, too, and link up an image of what you made to organize your kitchen.
Your image should be clear for everyone to see. I would suggest posting it on Facebook (I haven’t tried Instagram but that might work, too) with a description of what you did and using the hashtags #makesomethingfromnothing #msfn
In order to post your link to our linky, here’s what you need to do:
Assuming you’re not a blogger…. TO BEGIN, upload your clear photo to Facebook/Instagram and add your description along with the hashtags and publish it. Then follow the steps and images below.
#1 Grab the permalink. To do this you’ll need to go to the time you uploaded and published your photo.
#2 When you click on that date/time you’ll notice that up in your browser bar there is some info pertaining to that post. It’s a permalink. And this is the info you need to link up with us. Click on the whole link so it’s highlighted, then right click with your mouse, a box will pop up, choose copy, and proceed to step 3.
#3 Right click on the space and paste the permalink you copied.
#4 Create a title for your image (no longer than 30 characters)
#5 Add your email address. We will not spam you… but if we need a way to contact you if there is a problem… it rarely happens.
#6 Crop the image you uploaded by clicking the “Crop” button. You’ll see it up where the arrow shows.
#7 Hit the “Done” button and you have linked up!! Yay!
Once you’ve linked up, it will look like this image below. Pretty cool.
We can’t wait to see how you’re inspired to Make Something from Nothing to Organize your Kitchen!
