I am making a big change to how my magazine is being distributed and want to share the details with you. Please note this will ONLY EFFECT iPad USERS. First, let me tell you why I’m making this change. It’s pretty exciting news!! I have recently been approached my a national magazine about a position with them. Yep! Can we say DREAM JOB!?! Now, I have no idea if this will come together or not, it’s way too early to tell… but this possibility has caused me to look at some of the details with how my magazine is being published and what would happen if I was given a chance like this and didn’t continue publishing my magazine.
In looking at the terms set forth by Apple, if I stop publishing the magazine through their newsstand, not only will my magazine disappear from the readers iPad, they will also not receive a refund of any kind from Apple. I did not understand this to be the case when I signed up with them and am deeply dismayed that this is their policy. Now, I’m a big fan of Apple products and am not trying to be disrespectful or disparage them, but I’m disappointed about this particular policy and I have decided to withdraw now and distribute through other channels which will not expose my readers to such a financial risk.
Because each and every reader really matters to me, I want to compensate my iPad readers for this disruption and I will be offering the following compensation:
For readers who purchased a SINGLE ISSUE on the iPad, if you provide me with a copy of your Apple receipt, I will give you a new link to the full-issue of the May/June magazine online.
For 6 or 12 month SUBSCRIBERS on the iPad, if you provide me with a copy of your Apple receipt, I will provide you a pro-rated refund based on the issues you have yet to receive and give you a link to the full-issue of the May/June magazine online.
Unfortunately, Apple will not give me the contact information for any of my subscribers so PLEASE contact me and I will provide new links and issue refunds via paypal immediately. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org
For now, I am full-steam ahead on the July/August issue (which is looking AMAZING!) and beyond and will absolutely keep you posted on the happenings with the potential new magazine job!
I am sincerely sorry for the inconvenience this change will cause and I hope you will understand. I care for every one of my readers – you are each so, so special to me and I know we can navigate this change together!
Thank you for your support!
