I hope everyone isn’t seeing this title and immediately clicking the “unsubscribe” button… ha, ha! I mean, I kind-of would understand it, but I hope you bear with me on this… I recently heard Joyce Meyer say this quote and it stopped me in my tracks.
“Is your problem really your problem, or is your attitude toward your problem the real problem?”
It was a hard truth that I was shocked by – yes, my problems are problems but to be reminded that my “attitude” towards them plays a much larger role in how they impact my life was simultaneously hurtful and humbling but ultimately helpful.
It hurt in that “tough love” way. There is no sympathy in that truth, you know? It was a much needed slap in the face to get my attention.
It was humbling because it showed me just how ungrateful I can become. I have a God who loves me, I have my health, I have a beautiful daughter, I have clean water, a roof over my head, a car to drive, a computer to use, family I love, I mean, I could go on and on and on and on… why is it that the few negative things in my life seem to take up a lot of my thinking?
Which led me to realize and accept that, though it may be difficult to face, the truth is that my attitude is much more important than the problem itself. There will always be problems to tackle but if I keep a good attitude, I will conquer them and enjoy my life in the process instead of being dragged down by them.
Does this quote strike a chord with you too, or is it just me? If you can relate, I hope it helps you to take a moment to count your blessings today and that that will help you get through the challenges in your path with God’s grace and a lightness in your step.
