I love the movie You’ve Got Mail. It is such a sweet film filled with glorious sets (don’t you just want to live in the Shop Around the Corner?! and her apartment!) and really fabulous lines. This quote by Tom Hanks as Joe Fox has stuck with me for years as one of my all-time favorite Fall quotes. He begins with “Don’t you love New York in the Fall? It makes me want to buy school supplies… I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address.” With so many students going back to school this week, I thought this was a good quote to share. Regardless of whether or not you are heeding the toll of the school bell, I hope you enjoy this ‘virtual’ bouquet of newly sharpened pencils and are able to enjoy these last few moments of yet another golden summer.

Contest update: Alas, I didn’t win the Cottages & Bungalows contest. But thank you all so much for your support. I’m still so honored to have been chosen a finalist!
Happy Celebrating!

Love your bouquet! There is something wonderful about this time of year (well, I have a bit of summer left) when everything feels new again and filled with promise.

“Once I read a story about a butterfly in the subway, and today, I saw one! It got on at 42nd and off at 59th, where, I assume, it was going to Bloomingdales to buy a hat that will turn out to be a mistake, as almost all hats are.”

Oh, that’s a great one! It’s such a sweet, whimsical thought – a butterfly with a hat! I love it! I tend to think of bugs and animals as people – a la Beatrix Potter – so this makes total sense to me and is very endearing
