Do you remember this Ralph Lauren inspired dinner for two that I shared in October? I loved this shoot and was so happy that you all liked it too! It’s one of my top 5 most-popular posts of all-time. I styled this shoot as an homage to my most favorite designer ever, Ralph Lauren. I just adore his style. It’s elegant but still livable, classic and timeless… pretty much perfect in my book. When I shared this post one of my faithful followers Jill (from Sew A Fine Seam) shared a comment saying that I should send it to Ralph Lauren. While I loved the idea of this – how flattering! – I don’t know anyone there and felt incredibly intimidated to try. It’s Ralph Lauren, after all! So, I let it go.
Well, on Monday I got an email that 100% stopped me in my tracks. The author stated that he runs the new Ralph Lauren Home Facebook fanpage and they would like my permission to share my photos on their page. My heart began to skip a beat or two… (or three or four…) There was a link to their FB page but I didn’t click it because surely this was a joke, right? A scam of some sort? So instead, I went directly to Facebook and did a search for the Ralph Lauren Home page. Then I noticed a notification pop up in my email saying “Ralph Lauren Home likes your page”. Suddenly my mind begins racing!! “Whoa! Really? Can this be true??” Sure enough, it is!! I of course immediately email back that “Yes, I would be honored!!” and then I happy danced all around my house and called my mom, my best friend, my sister and so-on… you know the drill!! My mom, daughter and I went out for a celebratory lunch and I kept praying that it wasn’t some cruel joke or mistake….
But amazingly it was REAL because what should be on Facebook this morning but my photo shoot?!! I don’t know how they found me other than the absolute grace and favor of God 🙂 But find me they did. And not only find me but feature me too.
While I know I’ve typed a lot here, words really do kinda fail me for how to express how amazing this is to me! To be acknowledged by a design house that I admire so much – wow…. I pour my heart and soul into these photo shoots. There’s no real “budget” for them and I’m not even a professional photographer!! I’m just a work from home mom who is over-the-moon passionate about design and celebrating life! This whole scene was set up in my parent’s backyard and I had to stand in the shallow end of their swimming pool to take several of these photos! So, having you, my readers and friends, “get it” is thrilling. To have the designer who inspired it actually acknowledge it and give it a ‘thumbs up’ is well… AMAZINGLY AWESOME!!!
I share all this with you not to brag about my luck but to encourage your heart! I once got a piece of blogging advice at a conference to ‘always do your best because you never know who is reading your blog’. Since I dream of one day writing a book and seeing more of my ideas in print, this advice has always stuck in my mind. Today is a day I’m so glad I did my best – because someone I didn’t expect to be reading, totally was!!!! This can be true for you too!!
Do your best, dare to dream big! Don’t give up!
Hugs and Happy Celebrating my friends!!
