Did you know that July is national ice cream month? Really! I just learned this the other day… I didn’t know it but it’s true. So, to celebrate this little-known national holiday (to me at least) I thought it would be nice to serve up a dish of cream but in a “dressed up” way. Rather than breaking out the crystal as is the norm when I think of “being all grown up” I actually decided to grab a whimsical paper cupcake cup. The flowery shape of this cup paired with pretty porcelain plates & pedestals truly elevate this favorite dessert.
For these cups I filled them with vanilla ice cream and thought it would be nice to garnish them with a dusting of cinnamon. I’ve never had cinnamon on ice cream before but now I think it’s my favorite topping! It helps that I love cinnamon. It reminds me of chai tea – one of my favorite beverages!
It turns out that these cupcake cups – from Martha Stewart Crafts – make really great ice cream cups. They fit perfectly in your hand – they are cold but it is ice cream after all. It makes me think these would be perfect party dessert cups or also just a special treat for yourself! Tip: scoop the ice cream into the cups and place back in the freezer to help the cups chill and keep the ice cream colder longer.
So, in honor of national ice cream month I hope you’ll join me in a scoop. Speaking of which, what’s your favorite ice cream flavor & topping combo? Please leave a note and let me know.
