I’m slowly chipping away at my daughter’s bedroom decor. You can see the drapes I made and hung with shower curtain hooks here. My to-do list feels a bit endless but – one project at a time – I’m getting it done. Today I’m sharing an easy project that I think instantly adds elements of glamour (when left plain) and fun (when embellished!). And it took only minutes to install – huzzah! What is it? Hanging French Memory Boards on her closet doors. I bought these boards at my local craft store which is what really makes this project a breeze. Of course you could make your own (I’ve done it!) but for this project I had these so I’m using ‘em!
When left plain I feel like these have such a glamorous look to them! They remind me of something out of an Old Hollywood movie set. At first I only intended to do one door but I like how they look so much that I’m going to go get 2 more boards to do the other ones too.
To hang these boards I used 3M Command Strip Sticky hooks. Those things are so handy! The ribbon hanging is purely for looks – I simply tacked it to the top of the door.
But what I love the most about this project is that now we have a space for my daughter’s drawings, birthday cards and other mementos! Just like a revolving art gallery. It can change with the season. A simple and affordable project that has a big impact in a room – now that’s a good thing!
I love the look of these plain boards on the doors so much that I want to hang them in my room too.
There I go adding more to my to-do list! OK, I’m off to keep chipping away at it.
Happy Decorating!
