My powder room was a pretty neglected space in my house until recently. I just couldn’t decide what to do in here which left me with a blank slate. I got so tired of looking at it but it has a weird ceiling and I just felt stuck (and a bit uninspired) but I think I was mostly procrastinating because I didn’t really have a “vision” for the space. I finally decided to “just do something already” so I began hunting around through my random bits and pieces to see what I could come up with.
First, I found the prints. If you’ve seen the rest of my house you know I have a love-affair with Turquoise/Aqua/Robin’s Egg Blue or whatever you want to call it. These prints each have a hint of that color so I decided to make a grouping of them.
Next, I found the plates (I can’t resist pink or brown transferware so I have quite a collection – hanging it on the wall helps with my storage!).
Finally I added the letter “C” which I had gotten on ebay a while ago. I laid them all out on the floor and played with it until I had a grouping arrangement that I liked. I don’t mind if plates are chippy, if anything, I think it adds to the character and charm of a collage (at least that’s what I tell myself!).
I have a couple of antique ladders and realized that one of them would totally solve my weird ceiling height issue in here – and not only does it look pretty but it also make a handy towel rack!
There was still a bit of empty space under the collage so I tucked in a small drop leaf accent table and topped it with a random collection of garden inspired decor pieces and a quartet of frames which I’ve yet to hang. Most of these are antique pieces that I’ve collected over the years but the round galvanized metal piece is actually a recent purchase from Target!
I hope you enjoyed this little tour of my Powder Room! I still have more to do in here but this is a great start and I don’t feel that the room is so “incomplete” any more!
