Yesterday I shared a post introducing you to Katrina of Pugly Pixel. Her blog has been such a great resource for me that I thought I’d share another awesome resource that I use. It is the photography book titled Plate to Pixel by Hélène Dujardin. Hélène is the incredibly talented photographer behind the lovely blog Tartelette. In addition to being a wonderful photographer (and former pastry chef!) she is also passionate about teaching others how to improve their photography skills – yay! She teaches workshops all around the world (oh how I’d love to go to the one she had in Northern Ireland!) but last year she laid down her camera and passport long enough to write this book. I haven’t been to one of her workshops yet but I know this is the next best thing to having her actually beside me! Plus, I can refer back to chapters anytime day or night! I highly recommend this book if you are looking to improve your basic skills or wanting to brush up on styling skills. Even if you don’t photograph food there is still a lot of good practical information on camera settings and general composition. Plus the photos are just gorgeous!
Check it out! I’m sure you’ll enjoy it!
Okay, now for the contest update! I shared a couple of weeks ago that I entered a contest over at Whisperwood Cottage for a chance to be featured in an upcoming issue of Cottages & Bungalows magazine. I’m a HUGE fan of the magazine and would just love, love, LOVE to be featured! They were calling for Autumn entertaining ideas and I entered this outdoor entertaining party that I designed.
They had 233 (yes, that’s two hundred and thirty-three! Yikes! ) absolutely wonderful entries. They are all so awesome I would hate to be a judge – every one is a winner to me! Well, they’ve just announced the finalists and…. drumroll, please…..
I’M A FINALIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I very, very slowly scrolled down the page that was announcing the finalists – you know how you can be really excited but also terrified all at the same time? Well, that’s how I felt! They listed the finalists in numerical order by their entry and my number is #122 so I had a bit of scrolling to do which really allowed the suspense to build… Finally though, there was my project!!! Needless to say, I have been happy-dancing all over my living room!!!! What a blessing to be selected as a finalist! They announce the winner on Monday – please cross your fingers and say a prayer for me!
It’s hard to believe it’s Friday all ready…. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I’ll see you on Monday!
