{Blogs I Love} Pugly Pixel

Posted on August 9,2012 by Jennifer

Today I want to introduce you to Pugly Pixel one of the most awesome and comprehensive blog/online shops filled with embellishments, tutorials and tips for bloggers! I love her tag line “powered by pastries”! Don’t we all want to be?!

Katrina Tan is the Photoshop genius/mastermind behind this blog-design lover’s haven.  She is one of the “coolest & hippest” gals I ‘virtually’ know. She is constantly opening my eyes to new design possibilities by introducing me to ideas that are outside of my “box” and sharing creative ways to ‘puglify’ my images (my word meaning to make Pugly Pixel inspired AWESOMENESS). Some of my favorite embellishments include:

Pugly Pixel Velvet Singles

I love these velvet singles which you can find here for a mere $7. What a steal! She also has velvet strips & corners….

pugly pixel velvet bows… and velvet bows like this one here. Too sweet, right?! She also shares all the details about the fonts she uses – which is just one more fabulous service of hers! I’m a font addict so I really love not having to hunt down a font I see her use.

Pugly Pixel Vintage Blog Photo Templates part 3I think my favorite products of hers though are the templates! As a blogger who uses a lot of photography like I do, frames and photo layouts play a big part in the look & feel of my site and her templates make it so easy to dress up my pics! These make it so much simpler to create groupings or just simple frames. She has an entire series of them and when a new one comes out I declare it my “favorite” until the next installment …

pugly pixel glitter texturesI’m also a sucker for anything with glitter and Katrina shares my obsession as can be seen with her fabulous series on glitter here. From DIY glitter tape to magnets to text she’s got everything a glitter-obsessed girl could desire :-)

pugly pixel tinsel tutorial

Katrina has also made me a better blogger because she has taught me a lot about Photoshop! She creates tutorials that are easy to follow and grow my skill set. One of my favorites is this tinsel tutorial.

pugly pixel vintage labels

While many of Katrina’s tutorials and embellishments are free she does offer a premium membership which gives you access to even more goodies like these darling vintage labels. I am a premium member and highly encourage you to join me! For a mere $5 a month – yep, you read that right, just five smackers - you can get even more pugly goodness :-) Click here to sign up now!

pugly pixel blog collage

This is another FAB tutorial on collages!

Pugly Pixel colour lover mint paul ferney

She also has a great series called Colour Lover where she takes an image and pulls out 5 or so colors creating a color wheel type of effect with it. I love this and find it so inspiring! She also shares a lot of goodies for the iPhone which being an iPhone gal I find super fun!

I hope you will visit Katrina and please tell her I sent you! She is an amazingly talented gem in the world of designers! I hope you will take advantage of her many wonderful designs – there is so much more on her site than I could ever present to you here.

Happy Celebrating!

Squeeel! Thank you for this post! I don’t have a blog (yet), but I’ve been meaning to ask you where you got all those beautiful decorations on your blog (I really love the photo corners)! This gets me really excited! Now, to work up the nerve to actually start blogging!
