I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Mine kicked off with an early morning visit to Grace Episcopal Church for the annual Blessing of the Hounds. What a delight this was! The festivities began with a bagpiper – I’m a sucker for bagpipes! – playing a number of tunes including a very moving Amazing Grace. Then the bells began to toll and the horses and hounds came thundering into the yard in front of the old stone church… There was so much energy and excitement – for a horse lover like me it was thrilling!
From big horses to little ponies and all sizes in between, there was something for everyone.
The historic church, which dates back to colonial times, was the ideal backdrop for this service which included hymns, scripture readings, a Prayer of Thanksgiving, and an offering to benefit local animal rescue charities. The weather combined with the beautiful ceremony made for a memorable morning and one I look forward to repeating in the years to come. I hope to make this a new Thanksgiving tradition!
By the way, I’m so glad to be back! I missed you all. My laptop died on November 16th and it’s taken all this time to sort it all out. Please be sure to back up your files!! My computer was only four months old when it crashed and burned so you never know!
