I’m home from my Haven Conference adventure! My trip down was fairly uneventful (always a good thing when traveling!) and I was so excited to receive this amazing swag bag upon my arrival at the hotel. Can you believe the awesomeness that is included? Tucked inside the bag was Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, a stencil from Royal Design Studio, a Kreg Jig mini tool, a paint brush, an entire roll of Frogtape, a Comfort Grip handle for spray paint from Rustoleum, a can of stain remover from Oreck, Cutter bug spray, a thermal mug from HGTV & Shaw and more, more, more!

The conference kicked off Wednesday night with a Welcome Cocktail Party that included fun games and lots of networking! On Thursday morning right after breakfast we all gathered to hear an inspiring keynote address by John & Sherry of Young House Love then it was off to the sessions and back-to-back learning. Bright and early on Friday we jumped right back in to the sessions and I have to tell you it was delightfully overwhelming! So many new friends, so many new ideas, and so little time… I can’t wait to begin implementing some of what I learned – typical me, I want to do it ALL right NOW but that’s just not possible – there was so much! I need to sit down and prioritize and then a little at a time, bit by bit I will try out my new skills and ideas… I’m very excited about the journey ahead!

Thank you to Rhoda and her entire team for pulling together such an inspiring, educational and FUN conference! I can’t wait for the next one.

I met so many new friends but I especially want to thank Kelli from Restore Interiors, Breida from Breida with a B, Lesli with My Old Country House and Jessica with Decor Adventures for hanging out with me for pretty much the entire conference. Their friendship really helped me overcome my conference jitters! These ladies are amazing and their blogs are too!! I really hope you’ll visit them – I know I’m following their blogs to keep up with their awesome skills!

The only hiccup on my trip was on my return journey home. It began with delayed flights in Atlanta then more delays in Charlotte followed by a complete cancellation of my flight just before midnight. But God is good and had me bump into a fellow Charlottesville passenger who decided to rent a car and drive back home. Not feeling excited at the prospect of spending the night in the airport, I brazenly asked this sweet stranger if I could drive home with her! I could tell instantly that this woman was safe and friendly – otherwise I NEVER would have agreed to get in the car with a stranger. It turns out my instincts were right-on as we quickly discovered not only do we live very close to each other but she and her children are also clients at my mother’s salon here in Crozet! What a small world! So my new friend and I pulled an all-nighter and drove home. We left Charlotte at midnight and got back to C’ville at 6:30 AM. I honestly can’t recall the last time I stayed up all night – but boy was it worth it to get home and see my sweet baby girl’s smiling face!! Pure Joy!

Before I end I want to thank every one of you who entered my Martha Stewart Home Office giveaway! I’m happy to announce that our winner is….. {insert drumroll here!}
