Hello! My name is Jennifer Carroll and I’m so excited that you are visiting my blog: Celebrating Everyday Life with Jennifer Carroll. On this site I share recipes, decorating ideas and projects, as well as lots (and lots!) of ideas for making your next celebration special & memorable. As an event planner with almost 20 years of experience I know all the insider tricks and tips on turning a party into a CELEBRATION! And as a mom I know how to make a party special even when time, energy and sometimes even funds are in short supply!
When I was a young girl I loved cooking and playing the “hostess”. I loved the easy-bake oven! I was always concocting some new creation in it. I also spent a lot of time in front of the camera as a child model. As I grew up I continued modeling even winning the regional competition of the Seventeen magazine cover model contest landing me on it’s hallowed pages! While in my teens I would often be in New York City and would find myself invited to some pretty glamorous parties – it was at these parties that I began to learn how special parties could really be. You see rather than chit-chat with other guests I would befriend the staff and get behind the scenes to see what really made a party tick! The lighting, the catering, the dramatic decor, the papers, all the details – I loved it! I’d come home to Virginia with all these ideas and always try to make a simple at home celebration just a little bit more “sparkly”!
In my early twenties I grew tired of modeling (and not being able to eat my favorite foods!) and moved to Los Angeles where I was fortunate enough to land a dream job working at Davidoff of Geneva in Beverly Hills. It was here that my career as an event planner “officially” began. At Davidoff I organized and hosted countless celebrity dinners and special events, coordinating every detail and even began earning praise from the high-profile clientele. I was asked to design events in private homes, area restaurants, and beyond. But I found that I missed the South, where I grew up. So I moved back to the Charlottesville area to plan events for charities such as the Ronald McDonald House, and from there became a Special Event Coordinator for the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service at the University of Virginia, organizing events for high-level federal and state dignitaries. Another great job to be sure. But still I was a bit restless with the creative restrictions of corporate event planning. So in 2004 I opened my own design and planning company, Jennifer Carroll Events, with a single-minded vision of helping brides, grooms, and all party hosts have a beautiful and memorable celebration.
Besides becoming a mom, I realized another major dream that year when I became one of Victoria magazine’s Artists-in-Residence! In addition to Victoria, my designs have been featured in Southern Living, Martha Stewart Weddings.com, Southern Lady, The Knot, Weddings Unveiled, Real Simple Magazine’s Entertaining Blog, Style Me Pretty.com and others.
