With holidays like St. Patrick’s Day, I tend to keep things more subtle and low-key. There aren’t lots of leprechauns or other flashy decorations hanging about – mostly because I have no where to store them. I prefer to convey the feeling of the celebration with colors and understated elements. And today’s tablescape is a perfect example. This table is fresh and cheery – perfect for a bright Spring affair – and the shades of green give it an Irish flavor that leaves you wanting more.
The color palette is a blend of various shades of green and white with touches of gold. I especially like that at each placesetting guests find their own personal “Pot of Gold” – I just couldn’t resist!
Even the glassware is a blend of greens. I like how the various greens compliment each other rather than fight.
The centerpieces are a mix of blooms and green apples.
These rustic green containers were flea market finds a couple of years ago and I keep thinking I’ll paint them but I find the color and the rust rather charming so I keep putting off their “restoration.” Do you have items like that hanging around too?
Even a small plate of apples can add a bit of charm and style to the table.
Do you like to set a special table on St. Patrick’s Day? Do you go all out?
I hope you’ve been enjoying the St. Patrick’s Day inspiration this week – Day 1 I shared How to Frame a Shamrock and on Day 2 we made delicious Peppermint Mocha Floats. While these may not be true Irish inspirations, I think they capture the festive spirit of the season. Thank you so, so much for reading and sharing.
