A Nest for All Seasons Blog LogoHow to grow morning gloriesWelcome to the Thursday edition of Blogs I Love! Today, I’m excited to introduce you to Amy from A Nest for All Seasons. As I’ve mentioned many times before, I’m not the world’s savviest gardener and yet I find myself oddly obsessed with gardens. Amy’s blog is filled with tons of great advice and beautiful photos to inspire you to dig your hands into the dirt. I’m bookmarking her How to Grow Morning Glory Seedlings post for a day when I’m feeling adventurous!

St Patrick's Day, St Patrick's Day Recipe, easy Petits Fours recipe, petits fours

I really enjoy those sappy-sweet Hallmark channel movies and recently I saw one where a high-society wife was dumped by her husband and had to return to her humble New Jersey roots and work in her father’s bakery. As plots tend to go, things were a bit tough for Dad’s small bakery but the gal comes up with a winning idea which turns it all around – saving the bakery and finding Mr. Right at the same time. (By the way Mr. Right in this case is an actor I love hailing from BBC’s Monarch of the Glen. Bonus points if you’re familiar with that!) Well, the cakes she makes that save-it-all are called “Paddy Cakes” and this is my homage to those sweet little cakes – just in time for St. Patrick’s Day – except mine are no bake but equally delish!

Pot O' Gold, St. Patrick's Day Jewelry BlingWith St. Patrick’s Day coming up, one of the things that comes to mind is the ever elusive Pot O’ Gold – so today I thought I’d share one of my visions of it and a fabulous way to wear some green!

Oscar Party Food, Clementine Cocktail, Oscar Party Cocktail

There is nothing quite as glitzy and fabulous as the Academy Awards, is there? With the gorgeous gowns and all-around Red Carpet glamour it’s hard not to get swept up into all the fun. Here’s my recipe for hosting an Oscar Party at home for two or two-hundred. First, mix up a delicious cocktail, next prepare a few simple but over-the-top snacks, third, print out your own Oscar Ballot like this one, and finally settle in and enjoy the spectacle! So, here are my recipes for delicious Oscar Party Food & Drinks!

My Living Room… today

Posted on February 20,2013 by Jennifer

Living Room Decor

Welcome to my living room, at least how my living room looks on a good day when my 2 year old hasn’t covered every surface with toys and how it looks before I get to have my way with some real makeovers! You see, I have been renting my home for the last year and am expected to close on it at the end of this month if all goes well – thank you in advance for any prayers about that! – and I’ve been a bit reluctant to do any major changes to the room and my furniture until the house is “officially” mine… So, here it is today. I’d like to do some painting (of course!), switch out the seating or at least get some new slipcovers made for the sofas, work on some clever ways to disguise all my DVDs, add some crown molding, extend the framing around the windows and on and on…

Navy Horse Pillow from Target

As you may have guessed, I am passionately in love with horses

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle. Plato Quote, Ian MacLaren QuoteI remember when I first heard this encouraging quote many years ago I was really and truly struck by it.  I was a teenager and was just beginning to comprehend that I wasn’t the only person having “drama” in their life. So often we can be (or at least I can be!) easily fooled into believing that we are alone in our struggles and it is in the awareness that we are not alone that I believe true freedom lies. There have been countless times when I’m out and about and run into someone who is clearly having a bad day that I will try to extend “extra” mercy because this quote will pop into my head. Rather than be rude back, I will try to be extra patient. I can’t say I do this 100% of the time but I do try to do it more often than not.
