Archive for 2012
Golly, is it really 2013 tomorrow? It seems that the older I get the faster the time goes. When I was a kid it felt like the days rolled by at a very lazy pace but now they seem to zoom. I wish I could figure out how to slow it all down just a bit. At least taking a moment to stop and reflect on what I accomplished in 2012 will allow it to linger for one fleeting moment before the calendar clicks over. So welcome to my 2012 Year in Review post aka Where did the time go?!
~ JANUARY 2012 ~
This year was a year of tremendous growth for my blog – and I mean that literally – my numbers have grown by over 3,000% (yep, that’s three THOUSAND percent!) Pretty nifty! But back when the year began I wasn’t posting regularly and giving my blog the TLC I am today…
I’m completely surprised that Christmas has already come and gone and it’s almost New Year’s Eve… seriously, does time seem like it’s flying to you too? I’m a huge fan of Peacock Blue (or Turquoise or Robin’s Egg Blue or whatever you want to call it!) so I’ve enjoyed seeing it as such a popular trend in stores right now. All the sparkly peacock’s that I’ve been seeing are ideal for ringing in the New Year, so I am happy to present to you a sparkly Peacock Blue Happy New Year’s Eve Party!
For the table I began with a large piece of sequin fabric as a table cloth. Next I layered on
It’s the day before Christmas and all through my house…. oh, forget it! Christmas is coming and I’m not quite ready yet! There is still wrapping to do and a bit of baking… fortunately, I’m not all that stressed about it. It will be what it will be… The good news is my Christmas Table Setting is ready and I’m quite happy with it! Remember my Christmas centerpiece? Well, here’s how the rest of the table came together!
Yesterday’s home tour with Unskinny Boppy was, well, AMAZING! I was so incredibly blessed by the warm welcome I received and the loads of comments!! I’m left a bit speechless honestly! So, while my simple “Thank You” may sound a bit light – please know it comes from the very bottom of my heart! Bless you Beth for inviting me to your party! For those of you who didn’t make it over, it’s not too late, click here to see the post. And today’s featured home is none other than the spectacular home of Karianne from Thistlewood Farm. I’m completely in love with Karianne and will be excitedly sharing more about her over here soon… please stay tuned! In the meantime, I wanted to share photos of my Christmas kitchen decor!
I really enjoy featuring different ‘Blogs I Love’ and recently, when I created a Pinterest board to go along with this list, I was shocked to realize that I had yet to include the most influential blog that I read! Who is it you might ask? Well, if you’ve been reading my blog for a while you may have seen this post or perhaps this post… and if so then you have no doubt of the powerhouse blogger to whom I am referring…. Miss Mustard Seed of course!
I first began reading Miss Mustard Seed’s blog a couple of year’s ago and was just completely in awe of her. Her home is so beautiful and her creativity truly seems boundless.
Before I jump into more details of this Front Porch Hot Cocoa Party, I just want to say that my prayers are with all the families of those so horribly affected by the recent tragic events in Connecticut. I also wanted to share a link to a really great post written by Beth at Home Stories A to Z about ‘How to talk to your kids about school shootings’. My little one is still too small to know or understand what’s happened but if your kids are older this may be helpful.
Thank you so much to everyone who commented about Part 1 of my Front Porch Hot Cocoa Party! I put a lot into these scenes, so it’s a wonderful blessing to hear from you! Today, I want to show you the other details on the porch beyond the cocoa bar itself. Let’s begin with the chairs at the table, shall we?
These red chairs are from Kmart – I got them during the summer and love the color!
